Matti Hemmi. Helsinki, 1965.
Born in Helsinki, from Finnish and Spanish parents. I was brought up in Madrid, although I travelled regularly to Finland with my family. I soon learned to challenge the limits of the comfort zone, and to leverage the benefits of each culture. Before attending university, I went the military service at Sodankylä, Finnish Lapland. I then studied mechanical engineering in Madrid at UPM, where I received Honours in my degree project.
I broadened my studies with a Masters in Counselling, and a Postgraduate Program is Systemic Therapy and Consulting at UAH. Since 1997 I have trained in humanistic psychology, specializing in Transactional Analysis applied to Organizations. I have also completed extensive training in creativity (Creative Problem Solving Institute, innovation (FEOI) and coaching (International Coach Federation). I completed as well the Master Practitioner in DBM (Developmental Behavioural Modelling) training, and I’m certified as consultant in Corporate Transformation Tools (Barrett Values Centre), Parallel Thinking (de Bono Thinking Systems), MBTI indicator (OPP). I’m also a certified PCM (Process Communication Model) trainer and coach by KCE.
The first three years of my career I worked as an applications engineer in Hidratec, Spain, and The Gates Rubber Company, England and the United States. Then I was hired as Managing Director to start the Spanish subsidiary of a Finnish multinational engineering group.
During the fifteen years I led it we had an average annual growth of 20%, for the first twelve years, and 50%, the last three. The year I left the company it had a turnover of 12 million EUR. Our clients were companies like EADS, Citroën, Talgo, Astilleros Españoles, CASA, Metro, INTA or Acerinox.
In 2006 I founded inKNOWation (www.inKNOWation.com) from where we help business leaders to innovate and transform their organizations. In the first case we do this by working on the mind sets and skills of their people, and by creating cohesive organizational cultures. In the second case we apply our transformation methodology, through which we help business leaders create a culture of innovation, and design and execute user centered strategies that lead to the creation of new business paradigms.
Our clients include companies such as Kellogg’s, Nivea, Holcim, Bovis Lend Lease, Axel Springer, Warner Bros, Santander, Iberia, Repsol, BBVA, Ferrovial, Iberdrola, Galderma, Caser, Indra or REE.

Do you dare to dream?
Besides my work in consulting and business transformation I participate as a speaker at corporate events (Sage, Telcel, Janssen Cilag, Santander, Caser, BBVA, Iberdrola, ENUSA). Furthermore I speak at conferences in Spain (Innosfera, Diforum, AFSMI, PDMA, La Salle) and also internationally (ISPIM, CREA, ACA). I also lecture at various masters in the areas of innovation and change in several universities and business schools (UPM, URJC, IESE, IE, EUROFORUM).
In July 2013 inKNOWation Dreams published in Spanish my first book “Toward a New Paradigm” (“Hacia un nuevo paradigma”). It’s a book on how to create a culture of innovation and design and execute a user centered strategy in order to transform an organization.
In the second half of 2013 I will publish my second book.
I enjoy spending time with my family and among my hobbies are mountain biking, skiing, running, photography, reading and traveling. In addition to having lived and worked in the countries I mentioned, I have worked in seven countries and visited so far a total of forty-eight.
